The LGBTI community in Bulgaria has a representative at NGO House


In the co-working area of NGO House you can now meet one of the representatives of the LGBTI (lesbian, gay men, bisexuals, transgender and inter-sex) community in Bulgaria, namely Gloria Philipova from Foundation Resource Center “Bilitis”. She graduated “Philosophy” at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski “and is part of the informal LGBT HHH team. Currently Gloria assist the organization in the direction of increasing visibility and promotion of the messages of LGBTI people in state institutions and the general public.

“Bilitis” works as an advocacy organization aiming to eliminate all forms of discrimination and achieving gender equality for LGBTI people in Bulgaria. The organization achieves its objectives by spreading the values ​​of feminism and diversity, helping to overcome heteronormative structures, including gender stereotypes.

In 2014 Bilitis together with BHC promotes among public institutions concerned with the rights of LGBTI community, the idea of ​​creating a roadmap for equality of LGBTI in Bulgaria. Last year the foundation examined the state of LGBTI rights in the education system with a focus on school policies to protect the rights of LGBTI students and teachers.

The Foundation is open to interns and volunteers who share feminist values.
