Today, Roma and Bulgarian students from the primary school “St. Cyril and St. Methodius”, located in the village Devene, tapped for health the backs of the team of Bulgarian Center for Not-for-profit law, Citizen Participation Forum, and “Listen up” Foundation on the occasion Vassilitsa – the festival which is celebrated as the beginning of the New Year by most Roma people in Bulgaria on 14 January. Guests were welcomed with enthusiasm, gifts and candies in the NGO House, which echoed with warm wishes for health and wellfare. The little guests brought lots of sunny smiles and loaded with positive energy the space for sharing civil ideas and support.
The initiative is part of a national campaign which the Center for Interethic Dialogue and Tolerance “Amalipe”, community centers and dozens of schools organize across the whole country for the seventh consecutive year, in order to commemorate and promote holiday Vassilitsa – Roma New Year. Thus, it is provided opportunity for the students from schools throughout whole Bulgaria to wish health and prosperity of representatives of various institutions, public organizations and public figures, while at the same time they present the wealth of Roma culture and its connections with the culture of other ethnic groups in Bulgaria.
